Lets talk energy corners! There is only a slight change with the EcoSmart™Stud (ESS)and the Energy Corner.  You still use 2 solid studs on the outer corner so there is no issues attaching siding trim boards over the sheathing.  The change is in the sheet rock backer.  That is now a 2×4 that is used instead of a 3rd solid 2x that normally would make the U of the Energy Corner. The 2×4 is lined up at the edge of the slot of the ESS from the 2nd wall. that will leave 1.25 to 1.5″” for sheet rock to be attached to it.  With the slots not blocked by a solid stud this allows spray foam (SPF) to pass through the ESS from 1st wall into the 2nd wall which will lock both walls together by both the nails the SPF.  The Energy Corner is now fully insulated, thermally broke, and structurally reinforced.
