Our team is consulting with Blue Barn Construction on single-family Energy Star Zero Energy Ready Homes (ZERH) builds in Minnesota using our 2×6 EcoSmartâ„¢ Studs (ESS). The builds are infill new home builds in established neighborhoods.
As we calculate the build costs of these homes in the Minneapolis Minnesota area, we will look at the base costs of building and how that has changed over the last couple of years. We will compare building to the current Minnesota 2012 Energy Code with amendments to the higher insulation requirements of the 2021/2024 National Energy Code that is becoming more common across the country.
After that we will then compare those costs to building an Energy Star Zero Energy Ready Home, which has more strict building requirements than the 2021/2024 National Energy Code.
I guarantee you will be surprised at the cost breakdown, what is and what is not a cost upgrade compared to standard building practices for the ZERH build and the significant return on investment of those upgrades for the future home owners.
