PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT | MARCH 2026
EcoSmart® Studs and Daylun Partner to Advance the Future of High-Performance, Sustainable Residential Construction
Two pioneering innovators in the green building space unite to accelerate R&D on next-generation wall systems — bringing superior thermal performance and sustainability to North American homebuilders.
EcoSmart® Studs is proud to announce a strategic R&D collaboration with Daylun (daylun.ca), a Toronto-based innovator known for its patent-pending green building materials and pre-engineered, net-zero modular home systems. This partnership brings together two companies united by a shared mission: to make high-performance, energy-efficient residential construction accessible, scalable, and achievable for builders across North America.
A Shared Vision for Green Building Innovation
Daylun has established itself as a trailblazer in the Canadian sustainable housing market, developing patent-pending materials and technologies that target LEED Platinum certification, including a proprietary EVA-based board, solar-heated exterior cladding, and vegetable-based construction adhesives. Their flagship 241 Waterloo project in Toronto has demonstrated what is possible when green building innovation is applied at every layer of a home.
EcoSmart® Studs brings a complementary and critical piece to this vision: a proprietary advanced framing stud engineered specifically to minimize thermal bridging — one of the most significant and overlooked sources of residential energy loss. EcoSmart® Studs’ wall assemblies have been validated to achieve an effective total wall U-value of approximately 0.042 and better, a benchmark that exceeds conventional framing performance by a significant margin.
Together, EcoSmart® Studs and Daylun will combine their respective expertise to explore integrated wall system solutions that push the boundaries of thermal performance, structural integrity, and sustainable material design.
What This Collaboration Means for Builders
The ultimate beneficiary of this partnership is the builder and, by extension, the homeowner. This joint R&D effort is focused on delivering wall assemblies that are:
- Thermally superior — with validated effective R-values that meet or exceed the most demanding energy codes across Climate Zones 4A through 7A
- Structurally sound — meeting code-compliant racking and shear performance requirements
- Sustainably sourced — combining EcoSmart Studs’ advanced framing approach with Daylun’s green material technologies
- Builder-ready — designed for efficient on-site installation without specialized labor requirements
- Cost-competitive — delivering long-term energy savings and potential incentive eligibility without prohibitive upfront cost
Looking Ahead
This collaboration reflects EcoSmart® Studs’ broader strategy of building an ecosystem of aligned innovation partners across the North American green building market — from Ontario to the upper Midwest and beyond. As both organizations advance their respective product lines, joint testing, co-development opportunities, and integrated product offerings are on the near-term roadmap.
Builders, developers, and housing authorities interested in early access to integrated high-performance wall assemblies are encouraged to reach out directly to discuss pilot project opportunities.
